DIY Buster Sword Final Fantasy VII

Sword in flowers

Have you been a Final fantasy Vii Fan? Have you ever wanted to hold the Buster sword of Zack and Cloud? If you answer to any of this with yes, then this page is for you!
We will be going through a number of steps in order to make the sword from the above image. The blade's main material is wood, fue to this it weights aproximately 4.5 K.g
and it's one meter and 60 centimeters.

Materials we'll need

Main Body

  1. Wooden Plank <120x25<)/li>
  2. Wooden Broomstick
  3. x2 Wooden Rectangles (28x5)
  4. x3 Spray (Grey,Silver dark Red)

Decoration (optional)

  1. X2 Beach Racket Balls (Materia)
  2. x2 Wooden Rectangles (20x5)(Materia Slots)
  3. x2 Wooden tea stir sticks
  4. x10 Brass Screw Cup Washers
  5. Rubber Chair cap
  6. Spray Foam

The Progress

Early pick To start things first take the wooden plank which is 120Cm tall and around its 90 cm draw with a black mark to shape the blades head.
Then use a red mark in order to draw the sharp part of the blade.Since the blade is 25cm depth, the ideal sharp part will be around the last 10 cm.
It is noticable that by Looking at Cloud's or Zack's sword it has two different colours , the upper part, the one in dark grey ,which is much more thicker
and the silver part at the bottom, which is the sharpest area. However, the silver part at the pointy part of the blade has a small part on top of the blade
For this, the silve part should be around the 115cm on the mains body head.

NOTE:Always Have an Adult, The following paragraph will require the usage of specific Tools that need your cautious
Do not Use any of them if you re not sure how to use them. Be Responsible

So lets do this

Cut the wood marked in black with a saw or a Jigsaw. Then use the tool known as Plane (either hand held or electonic ) to the area marked in red.
Thats the area specified to be the sharpest part of the blade.Make sure that its not thin enough to break easily. As mentioned the sharp part of my blade starts
at 15 cm all the way to 25cm.Once finished with the plane it is adviced to rub the blade with Sandpaper. This proccess will straightenen the blade and it will
make it alot more helpful during the painting process, and in generally speaking a smooth blade is better than a messy blade .

The next part is more optional but its recomended to do it. Get 2 thin wooden rectangles 20 cm tall and 6cmdepth and place them in the space of 10-15 near the top of the blade
leaving 5 cm from completely reaching the top from both sides(1 side at a time).Place it with glue and then hammer 2 nails to make sureit wont move or drop . This is where
the material slots will be made. For this task, we need to make 2 holes. We can have as many holes as we want to BUT the buster sword has only been seen with 2 .
The holes were made with a hole saw. The size of the holes should be equal to the items wished to use as materia. In the buster sword above the balls used for materia
are from a set of wooden rackets that re made for the Beach. This decision is justified due to the fact that:

The holes have their radious equal to 2cm. So their size is aproximately 4 cm overall which is very convenient as theres a size 4 head for the hole saw
Once the holes re made, rub them using a sand paper and make sure the items chosen to use fit in.The placemnt of the holes in the rectangle start from 3cm till 7
and 13 to 17. If you dont have any materia items you can leave the wholes empty. Now,the blade needs to be paint.Use the silver spray for the Sharp part and
dark grey paint for the body.

wooden

Early pick For the neck of the blade.

Use again 2 rectangles size 5cm and 28 cm .Drill them on top of the sword where the space of 5cm Left from before.Noticed that the 2 pieces are longer than our main body and thats fine
Place them on top and make sure that a gap of 1.5cm is exceeding from both sides giving it symmetry.Cut the wood removed at step 1 to smaller pieces to fill in the 1.5cm and then
drill the pieces with screws to stuck them together.Once this is done use foam to fill in the empty parts and sand paper to make the handler look smooth. Decoration is optional but
hey who doesnt want to make the blade look good. Keep in mind what ever is made on one side,it will have to be made on the other as well. Use glue gun to glue the wooden tea stir sticks
in each side of the neck giving it that one extra layer to the sides.Finaly add 5 Brass Screw Cup Washers to each side similar to how the buster sword has them
Brass Screw Cup Washers are essentially the items you place to protect the nails drilled.
Last but not least the handling.

The hanlder of the buster sword is the wooden broomstick that was listed above.Chopp it down to 38 cm.Use the hole saw to drill the center of the blades neck in order to place the
broomstick in it. To make sure that the broomstick will stay in, use plenty of glue and also use ministicks carved in the shape of mini ramps to hammer them in .
Once confirmed that the broomstick isnt going anywhere leave it to dry, and cut the any possibleramp part that might stick out. Proceed by painting the broomstick red however use
a type of red that is closed to brown. For the final piece of the puzzle place ontop of the broomstic the chair rubber foot tap of grey colour on top of the broomstick.
Similar to how the sword has that think on top.
