Story and Gameplay of Each of the Games

Spyro the Dragon

Game's Heroes
The first game of the trilogy is Spyro the Dragon(1998) that introduces the players to the duo of the series that is, Spyro a cocky purple dragon who is filled with confidence and is the playable hero and his sidekick Sparks the drgonfly that represents Spyro's Life points and helps him collect gems when the dragon is nearby some. For the story of the game, The players follow an interview based in the world of dragons. In that interview the Dragons make fun of Gnorc a creature half orc half gnome that was defeated in the past(Not in an actual game as this was the first introduction to this universe). Little did the dragons know that while exciled Gnorc is watching that smae interview that the player does and he gets offended by it which lead him to cast a spell that crystalises all of the dragons BUT Spyro. This is where the Game begins and the player gets control of Spyro. The player will have to visit all the dragon homeworlds to release every single dragon captured and crystalised and then find and defeat Gnorc. Every Dragon that is released by Spyro is giving the hero advice on how to use specific skills, others ask him to capture the thieves that stole some dragon eggs and others some dialog on how Spyro has to stop Gnorc. In order to achieve all of that, the player will have to travel through 6 realms AKA dragon homeworlds and play through 35 different levels. While playing , Spyro has to save 80 crystalised dragons and get back 12 eggs from the egg thieves.

Each homeworld has their own boss level, which is normaly the last accesible gate in that specific realm, and before reaching the end Spyro will face a creature with a unique design. Usually games made their bosses distinctive, however the enemies don't look or act as bosses.Needless to say for a game based on a 1998 they are okay. They 're not hard but they re cleverly design and fun to go againts. The Battle with Gnorc has it's own level . Unlike the other 5 where it's a full level with an enemy at the end, Gnorc is the only one there from the beggining. Spyro The dragon is a simple and fun platforming game. The leves are well design with interesting platforming and the mobs within the levels are beutiful and carry a calm cartoonish beuty with them.

Spyro The dragon : Ripto's rage

Game's Heroes
This is the second game of the series . Unlike the last game , the sequel has Spyro wanting to go to the beach and enjoy some relaxing vacations however he is accidentally summoned in the land of Avalar Which has fallen under Riptos Control. Ripto is a small sorcerer who is accompanied by 2 Dinosaurs Crush and Gulp. The group that summoned Spyro request for his help and Spyro agrees on helping them. To reach Ripto the player travels through 4 realms and play through a total of 25 levels. 1 of these realms though, is basically a bonus level if the player fully completes the other 3 and it offers 4 minigames in total. Each world that Spyro visits unlocks a talisman that is used to unlock other worlds/dunsgeons and inside the dungeons there are mini side quests which upon completing will reward Spyro with an orb. The player has to to gather a total of 40 orbs to enter the final battle. Every level, in Riptos Rage has it's own cutscene when entering the world, and another cutscene when defeating the level. Each scene shows enemies terrorising the dungeon/worlds inhabitants and then the inhabitants getting their revenge upon success. By doing so, the Game adds a comic relief and not gonna lie most of them are hilarious. There are also different portals thats grant Spyro a unique skill that he need to use in order to get the job done. This revolves around giving fire breath a stronger version of fire, free flying and super headbutt charge.
Last but not least Spyro 2 has 3 Boss Batlles one for each realm. The fist battle is againts Crush. The second battle is againts Gulp and last but not least Ripto. Needless to say all three boss battles are completely different from each other and carry their own patterns and power ups. When the player collects approximately 8000 gems and 55 orbs, Spyro is granted access to the bonus stage. The Bonus level is themed around a circus and has plenty of minigames. Some are roaler coasters, others shoot th targets and etc.

Spyro The Dragon: Year of the Dragon

This is the last game of the Reignited trilogy. It combined elements of both the previous games. The Game's story is about a Sorceress who stole the dragon eggs from the dragon realm during the year of the dragon celbration, an event that takes place every 12 years.( which based on the chinese zodiac) She then spread the eggs in 4 different realm. According to her, Dragons is what allows her to use Magic. Dragon wings can grand her immortality by crafting a spell. In this game Spyro visits all 4 realms and the players go through a total of 28 stages, 4 of which are boss battles. The goal on each realm and stage is to collect all the eggs that re spread around. The new element in the gameplay is the introduction of more playable characters than just Spyro. Each of them re playable in their own stages, or inbetween others. For example while playing as Spyro The player will come across Signs with a certain hero's face that the player will need to have unlocked to play. These levels or parts of levels are mendatory as there is always an egg to collect from in there. These Heroes are Sheila the cangaroo, sergant James Byrd the Penguin, Bently the yeti and Agent 9 the monkey with the raygun. All the cutscenes in game are about the sorceress plan and they take place once the player has achieved a specific task. These are usually, finishing specific levels, leaving/ entering a new realm, getting a specific amount of eggs and when its time to unlock a new hero. There is little to none cutscenes when entering / leaving the worlds. As for the boss battles they fail to be as memorable as Ripto's Rage. However unlike the main bosses the game also has some Optional bosses that appeared in stages in order to unlock more eggs. Its also worth mentioning how for the first time the Players get to experience some Sparx gameplay after defeating specifics homerworld. Sparx worlds are completely optional and can easily be skipped and still complete the game as Spyro will get back more Eggs. The third installment added plenty of elements that seperated it self from the past titles.

GamePlay

Game's hero
Gameplay wise the game is very simple. Spyro The Reignited Trilogy is a 3D platformer. The basic idea is that the player will have to go through levels and kill enemies by dashing onto them with his horns or burning them with his dragon breath. In the second and third game (Spyro Riptos Rage and Year of the Dragon) Spyro can also jump and drop down (stomp) with an attack. For defence, Spyro can avoid being hit by Jumping over enemy attacks, move of their way or dodge roll. There are only two ways to die. The first one is to fall of a platform where there is no anya playable area for the player to land and the second one is Spyro dying from receivng too many hits. On a row Spyro can take 4 hits before dying, otherwise the player can determine the hits Spyro can tank based on Sparx's color. If Sparx's colour is yellow it means Spyros life is full, if it's blue then he can take 3 hits, green means 2 and then sparx leaves which means if Spyro receives a hit the the player dies. and resets on the nearest checkpoing. There plenty of Passive mobs through out the levels that Spyro can kill in order to restore his health. These mobs are in forms of frogs, bugs, rats sheep and others. Once the player kills them Sparx will chase the butterfly released from the mob.

Sum-Up

Overall Spyro the reignited trilogy is a fun and interesting 3D Platformer . As mentioned people who expirienced it as children love it, since its really faithfull remaster of the original games, and any newcomer gets to experience a pleasant trilogy. The worlds look fantastic with their appearance and the creatures inhabiting them. The gameplay is very simple and inviting to play, yet punishing if The players are rushing though it. Most of the character designs flash out and look very polish. The music and the voice acting is also very good and add personality to every character. The heroes, the enemies and the mobs. The game as whole can last for a satisfying amount of time and if someone is going for 100% completion of each game then there in for a ride. Each game for the trophy hunters, offers it's own platinum trophy. Its a three in one deal and its not expensive especially if combined with any of the bundles mentioned above.
